Misfire update.

Post by frank308d »

Here goes. I thought it was the mixture or a sticky carb. I had the carb off and cleaned, re-fitted and tuned it. Checked the electrics and no problems there either. Gave up after about 8 hours in total. Phoned a mobile tuner who came out today. Turns out it is No.2 cylinder has a faulty exhaust valve. Probably burnt out  Not only that but the vacuum pipe from the distributor is not working as the base plate to the distributor is jammed solid  So, I now need a distributor and another head. I can't be messed around having that one reconditioned so it seems an opportune time to go unleaded.
Ah, the joys of period motoring
