Fuel pump, oil question, oil on block.
1.have a 1969 traveller. 1098cc engine, where can i get a new fuel pump at a cheap price? mine is make a racket, sounds like a thump.
2. Change the oil in the traveller, thought it took more than 3 litres, is this right or did i have too many beers.
3. i degreased the engine the other day and it seems i am having a bit of seepage through somewhere on the head. is this something i should worry about, or is it part of the character of the Minor? hasn't been enough to hurt anything, and not enough to notice on the dipstick.
thanks for the help.

No idea of the oil capacity in litres, but it's 6 1/2 pints. Any of the spares places (eg ESM/Bull Motif) will sell you a fuel pump - and it's pretty hard to know whether a leak of something from "somewhere" is serious or not. If it's oil and coming from between the head and the block, then it could quickly become serious though.

1. The usual suppliers sell them, but are you sure it's faulty? They are supposed to make a noise when they're working.
2. I don't have my manual with me to check but that sounds about right to me.
3. I wouldn't worry about it unless you're hoping to win awards for the cleanliness of your engine bay. The usual source of oil weeping from the cylinder head is the rocker cover gasket.

If it doesn't work, you're not hitting it with a big enough hammer.

That's just fractionally over 3 litres.bigginger wrote:No idea of the oil capacity in litres, but it's 6 1/2 pints.

Oh! I'd forgotten there was a difference. 6.5 British pints = 3.7 litres.bigginger wrote:I only had the programme that converts it to US pints to hand
No school trips to Europe then?bigginger wrote:and we didn't have 'litres' when I was at school

A pint is something like 568ml, so roughly 2 pints to the litre for quick guesstimates
As for the pump, I've got a couple of s/h ones that seem to work going cheap (would benefit from new points though), but I thought they were all less than quiet? If it's really making a racket could it have worked loose on the mounts?
