I would be pleased to hear your opinions/suggestions on the following problem that I have:- The front mounting pin for the rear leaf springs, on my van is integral to the chassis, so can't be removed for replacement. Now this pin is quite badly pitted and I don't want to fit the rubbers until I have reclaimed it by using some 'hi-tech' adhesive to reshape it, not ideal I know, but I'm reluctant to saw the pin off and renew as it's load bearing. My first thought was to rig up some sort of shot blast affair but recirculating the sand is proving a problem. I'm now thinking is there any acid strong enough to eat into the metal enough to clean the pitting so that any adhesive will bond properly, in other words to clean as well as shot blasting would.

Why not try a wire cup brush on an angle grinder??

I have tried this, and it seems to have similar effects to shot blasting.

Don't get the cheap brushes though, pay about £10 + for each one. The cheap ones just disintegrate.
