cadetchris, I'll try that again, chris they are red and orange, Fin there are no lids to the glove compartment for 1968 pickups, and Les, yes but I think the rubbers aren't deep enough, the lips on the outer edge just aren't thick enough to hold the glass ruby in place, the chrome bezel works its way out, and sooner or later the ruby drops out

Ive just realised what you mean Les, Ive dug out this image from around page 12/13 back when I fitted the rear lights, I "incorrectly" fitted the glass ruby to the outer instead of the inner rubber groove, no wonder they keep on failing to stay in. I'll correct these first thing tommorow morning, I'll be chuffed if this is the reason.[frame][/frame]

with a spray of WD40 the rubber slide around the ruby quite easily using a wood Mcdonalds drink stiring stick, very useful.[frame][/frame]

after the ruby was home the chrome bezel just pushed on, a once around with the wood stick just to tease out the rubber lip and they were in. And more to the point they are a lot firmer, it takes a physical effort to free them, they no longer just fall out when knocked. Going over speed bumps could have been a problem.

i do want to use the old original from the relic,, just to keep that look of age about it, the rear face reveals one of the three retaining clips missing, but the electrical contact looks clean.

a bit of brute force and ignorance, and a little help from Mr WD40 and in it went, flush and clean.[frame][/frame]

thats just how it's going to have to stay for the time being, today a welcome package of bits arrived from Moss, new bottle holder and spray wash jets, I'll have to fit these tommorow as I'm working late into the night tonight.[frame][/frame]

wash bottle in, I have a Tudor label for this but unsure at the moment if it goes on about middle or toward the top.[frame][/frame]

the jets are in position and screwed up hand tight.[frame][/frame]

the push button has two outlet pipes at its rear surface, one goes to the bottle in the engine bay, the other via the three way junction to the jets, some minutes later after some constant pumping annd.. nothing, not a drop sucked up. Ok might have a blockage in the rather ancient pipe. Have to think about that.[frame][/frame]

the old original bakalite black edge cracked off, I seem to be like the guy in that Hollies song "King Midas in reverse" everything he touches turns to dust. Still, with a bit of araldite, maybe the cracks wont show. It needed a strip down and clean anyway[frame][/frame]

On the windshield washer, you should get some spraying action after 1-3 pumps. That's how mine (which is floating around in my spares) worked, anyway. Could indeed be a blockage; you might disassemble the system and blow through the pipes with a high-power jet of water, if possible. It's not implausible that the pump is blocked, but I'm not sure how to fix that. I'm sorry to see the horn-push surround broken; I've had one do that too. I'm not certain if there's a fix for it. May have to get a new one.

But the pickup really is looking excellent! You've done a remarkable job, brother.

for the window washer, how about swapping the pipes around? you could be pulling air in via the jets and pumping it into the bottle. just a thought. if that dosent work, then it might be fudged or a blocked pipe

are the jets pointing at the screen the hole are in the side of the screw and they should be parallel to it so that you can rotate the screw to raise and lower the area the jet washes

Should the suction pipe should have a one way valve on it somewhere. Either on the end inside the bottle or in the pump unit?
