Took the Traveller to work today - thought it was a good opportunity to take some under-body photos in my training workshop.[frame]Image[/frame][frame]Image[/frame][frame]Image[/frame][frame]Image[/frame][frame]Image[/frame][frame]Image[/frame]

You really need to do something about those bends in the wire harness.

Isn't a Minor uni-body a thing of beauty? - once repaired.

You decide which statement is sarcastic.

Sweet! However if mine was as good as yours I'd hate getting it dirty!
Best wishes,
Mike.

Made myself a new parcel tray today - have now also cut the vent holes and fitted it to the car. Has anyone else had problems with the width of the support bar and the angle of the end brackets? I modified mine a bit and have mounted the bar a bit higher than standard. Now have to fit and upholster the foam padding. Which is standard - seat colour? Or black vinyl for the foam padding?[frame]Image[/frame][frame]Image[/frame]

Yeah - I've bought a lot of stuff off ESM but with the freight costs to New Zealand, sometimes it just isn't viable. This one cost me about $4nz worth of panel board the same for the vinyl to cover it. I'll be buying seat covers and door panels from either ESM or Newton Commercial as I want the genuine "welded" vinyl look. Otherwise, I'll do a lot of the trim myself - I even bought an old Singer sewing machine to do some of the trimming work - just have to work out how to use it.[frame]Image[/frame]

Interior floor now stripped of all bitumen based sealant. Now time to seam seal, add sound deadening sheets to firewall and coat with Wurth Stoneguard (gearboxcover already done).
BTW, done over 1000kms since getting it back on the road - apart from a dodgy fuel pump early on, no problems whatsoever! Am enjoying driving it so much in the Auckland summer that the actual restoration work is taking a back seat for while![frame]Image[/frame]

Best thing for them - to be driven and enjoyed!! :D
Plus, as you've found, it's the best way to iron out any teething troubles....

the underside looks glorious up on the lift, that's one clean Moggie, you've inspired me to look at making a parcel shelf too.

Sad news everyone - my Traveller was rear-ended about 3 weeks ago and has unfortunately been written off. Although the damage doesn't look too bad, it's kinked the floor under the back seat and even separated the cross member welds! Insurance has paid me out and I have sold the wreck to an enthusiast who is an ex panel-beater - a skill that I personally do not possess.
I would like to pass on my thanks to all of you who helped me with my journey of restoration, but now it is time for me to find a new project..... Maybe a Fraser 7 (NZ Caterham - Google it!)

Thanks again, and I hope that none of you ever get hit from behind by an unlicensed, un registered and uninsured driver! Thank god for good comprehensive agreed value car insurance on my behalf!!!

Regards

Sad news indeed, the main thing is that you and your passengers are ok. Sorry too that you won't be able to enjoy the traveller after all your hard work.

Gutted for you, I bet you could have killed them!
Good luck with whatever you buy next, maybe see you on here again one day with another Moggy?
Best wishes,
Mike.

They say every cloud has a silver lining. A good friend of mine has a bit of a car collection and was bemoaning the fact that one of his cars is not getting used enough and is needing some TLC and some regular use. He has offered me the car for as long as I have the space. One could call it a Morris Minor as it shares the same engine, gearbox and diff - just a slightly lighter body. And yes, it is a genuine, unrestored Lotus 7, Series 1.
My lucky day![frame]Image[/frame]
