I feel uncomfortable stating my view of the National Rally on this board as I feel it's content flies close to breaking the t&c 's and it's not the first time I have brush against this legislation. Nevertheless I believe the club could learn something from my standpoint.
I have been a MMOC member for the past 6 years If memory serves me well and recently my membership lapsed. I had every intention to renew at the Rally but frankly was hugely dissapointed by the entertainment that was available and I had to question the organisational skills and show brief that had been selected for such an important anniversary. I do not in anyway seek to downplay the efforts made by ordinary members and the traders that attended. I myself offered to help with marshalling but recieved no response in return. On arrival at the show those at the gate could not direct me to the display area I had been allocated. I recieved no brochure, site plan or schedule of events. When I walked the area on Saturday there was no signing whatsoever, finding toilets and refreshments was purely guesswork. There was one burger van (apparently) and the icecream van was closed each time I went. The only tea shop (in the house) was unreachable for the two gentlemen with sticks I saw at the time. The main display area was unexplained - I assume the two cars in the centre were the first and last?? and the collection surrounding them may be one from each year perhaps?? I never found the Club tent. I would expect a show of this sort to be a family event and to be honest if I had bought my children they would have been bored to tears and the weekend would have been hellish.
The two days were made however, by the company of the people of this messageboard which I thank you all for but I can't help but think I could have had just as enjoyable an outing on a messageboard day out.
I'll let you work out if I renewed or not

i usually try and get event organisers to pay all my expences, simple if they want the car they will have to pay for it, if not they wont get it. simple, i just say y should i put in all the effort to get mogg looking good and get her there when i could spend the show entry money on keeping her running instead they soon bowed down and now she gets regular shows at several preserved railways and other events and does gett a little bit of money which just about covers the fuel cost
