did not realise that the club had to make a profit from the rallies.
Well I think the object is to try and get as near to a break even point as possible.
My own Branch generally makes a loss on out Rallies (we once made a small £20 excess) and some years we have made quite a loss and it takes a while to try and get branch funds back to a reasonable level to be able to fund the event, but we have never had a large reserve in the last 10 years or so its normally only in the £600 - £800 range in a good year and thats normally only after the years subs have come in like many other branches I expect, so after our monthly newsletter and venue costs we are not exactly rolling in it, and we still manage to fund raise for a local charity every year on top of this, so I really appreciate the effort put in for the National and the reasons for trying to cover costs but this is of course is just my personal opinion.
