Is a Morris a good first car?

This is wonderful advice people (not that biased which is useful), I was wondering what rough price for a mechanically sound moggy is?

A solid, 6months+ Mot'd minor, in decent running mechanical order, with tatty bodywork/paintwork, and some of the usual minor rust bubbling, around the 1500 mark or abit under. Add an extra 100+ on top of that if it has upgrades such as disc brakes, 100+ for NICE (wider) non-standard wheels, and another 200+ if it has a 1275 engine.
