Nothing a bit of silver high temp paint in a spray won't sort out... Personally I'd also stick some fire resistant building foam on the revese & lag the fuel pipe with the silver foamy stuff that has the metallised fire retardent finish.. (yes silver foamy stuff is the technical term

Has anyone thought about mounting some small 12v fans over the holes in the bottom of the floorpan to "pull" the heat through? Would also act to "pull" it downwards away from the float chamber etc... you could trigger them off of the a sensor like they use for the kenlowes mounted in the water pipe or even switch them manually when it was hot... Guess you could also mount one on the inner wing aimed specifically at the float chamber etc...

Just rip a Renault 5 Turbo anti-perculatory system off and use that. Basically a thermostatically operated plastic ducted fan that cools the carb down when it gets too hot.

No, you are thinking of the Renault 5 Turbo perculatory system! That IS a coffee machine!

Actually, the last one I worked on might as well have been! Renault 5 wiring is BAD anyway but this chap had run cables over the engine (which melted) to power an 'amp'. As well as fitting an immobiliser which did exactly that but kind of permanently!! I think that's why I stopped the auto-electrician thing..........
