Very jolly rally, left my brakes behind though, had to do the last two miles home using a combination of engine braking, hills and handbrake

Is this better Your Right Royal Highness?
Erm, on reflection, no.
left my brakes behind though, had to do the last two miles home using a combination of engine braking, hills and handbrake
Did you get the brakes lights working though??
congratulations to Lou (regaliaqueen) for winning the grope.
What grope? Typical! I knew that by leaving early I'd miss something interesting

Phew Lou!
Glad you got home safely.
Any idea why they failed and if it's linked to the brake light failure earlier?
Maybe stomping on the brakes [to 'kick' the switch into action] found a weakness in the system.

'Sleepy' Lavendon [Bucks] has a very good pub! Infact, 2 very good pubs for food. I'm happy to organise the booking.
The locals would never forget it if a convoy of Moggies turned up. Would probably get in the news
Count me in whatever you decide.
