M hickup, I'd refrain from trying to improve worn and faulty components. I would be very interested when you have replaced your worn dampers and leaf springs, to see if they give the same overall result of modding the worn ones or actually improve the standard set up.
Generally I'd be very wary about recommending methods of changing standard parts until you are able to, 1, have a controlled base on which you can safely practice mods, and 2 have a logical method of modification and proven info and data as to how each mod works in connection to others.
Re-spec of original style lever arms, there are uprated versions available, which would save all of this hit and miss theory. One of my customers used to sell hundreds of these units to Australia and Africa, so I'll try an contact him, for genuine comment.

I will not admit to any thing in the slightest way. I tend not be ignorant about stressing well thought out designs.
whatever you will say, I will stick to the right and correct oil.
Why is do you think you know it all anyway?
End of story no matter if anyone is a qualified engineer.

Jonathon, I understand what you are saying and I hope no one interprets what I have said as advice to go and fill up their dampers with thicker oil, but rather my experiences following Mr.Ecosse's advice.
I do intend to replace the dampers and leaf springs shortly finances permitting. When I do I will leave dampers with standard oil for a comparison, although far from scientific I know I'd be like to know the affect on the cars handling.

It just worries me that some folk may take some advice given on this forum as gospel, the major concern was that uprating and overstressing worn seals and leaf springs was not really sensible for safety sake.
Hope the new kits, when fitted offer you good handling, personally I'd stay with the 5 leaf set up.
