I'd consider trying to get it started before rebuilding David. You never know there may not be much wrong with it once you're able to turn it over by hand.

This is fantastic to watch, it seems like you are getting on really well! I'm doing a light resto on a 64 traveller, and have just got another engine to rebuild so I'm reading the tips on cleaning it up! Good luck with it, and can't wait to see more pictures.
Good luck with your engine rebuild webnuts. Meanwhile I'm back on the front suspesion after my brief engine cleanup. The front hubs were next, they're in good working order, just a bit rusty on the outside.

Hubs and back plates back on. Only loosly fitted, the tie rods are still not connected to the wishbones yet, need more space to work. still, in dryer weather, and with the front wheels back on, I can push it out of the garage into some open space.

I'm running out of rusty parts to restore, the handbrake looks nice now, the bar in the foreground I think is the engine steady bar, I'm going to have to look at my pickup relic CD from earlier this year,
(where did this year go!) and get some idea on how it fits back on.

Aha, here it is, or should I say here it was, as it looked in the original pickup relic. Looks odd to me, does anyone think this is a owner modification or did they come out of the factory like this?

Definitely a user modification. The bit inthe middle is an engine lifting bracket. The steady bar usually bolts to a bracket on the top of the crossmember. I assume its not there?
No wonder, I had no idea what this part looked like, Ive never seen it before as its missing on my original vehicle, is this what it should look like?
