917 Side valve engine advice

Thanks everyone for your input. I now know much more about what I have.
Its a Spring 1953 Series MM.
It has the right engine but it isn't the one it left the factory with. So the air filter may be adding confusion as to if it was an export vehicle.

But I still have many questions about what to do with the engine. So as this thread has gone of subject I will start a new thread.

having established that it is not a 55 car - you should really try to keep the SV engine and keep the car original. BUT - it's your car - and if a turbo-diesel engine or a V16 BRM engine..... suits you - do whatever you wish with it!
