And today, two Lancasters and the sole remaining airworthy Vulcan - only saw them on the telly but still AWESOME!
I'm going to do the Eurolottery and give the Panton family £3,000,000 to get the third Lancaster in the air if I get the big one!

I saw the two Lancasters being excorted by a Spitfire and Hurricane at Wings & Wheels. It was amazing. Also seeing all the WW1 planes having mock dogfights, never seen anything like it.

Cheers,
Matt.

Years ago saw the Vulcan at Biggin Hill did a slow pass then turned on full throttle and climbed the ground and people vibrated
Also when i saw a Harrier for the first time at biggin hill do a fast approach and then came to a stop hovered then went backwards and rotated it was a sight to see

Went to Middle Wallop this afternoon to see the BBMF Dakota which had flown up from Bournemouth and on the way home the Vulcan passed overhead on its way to Bournemouth. :D :D

Sunday
Vulcan flew over near to my house on its way to Bournemouth and on its way back again. So double viewing :D :D :D :D

Saw the two Lancasters fly over Windermere this afternoon, was sat high above the lake and we were virtually level with the cockpits as they flew by. Also saw them this morning over the lake as the flew up to Prestwick
Also just seen the Vulcan from my balcony heading back to base after displaying at the Prestwick Air Show. :D

Wow again! Went to Ludford (north Lincs) this afternoon - they had a comemmorative service before the two Lancasters arrived - in the middle of the main street - simply closed the village and told the traffic to wait - that's the way to do it! Then shot off to a good viewpoint between Ludford and the next flypast and they came right overhead!
Saw them again at a distance as they did their "three Lancs" bit at East Kirkby Aviation Heritage centre where the third Lanc was Taxiing, then stopped off at RAF Coningsby (Battle of Britain Memorial Flight HQ) where they were parked up by the fence and the crew were chatting away to the crowd - wonderful. Then to cap it all, a Spitfire and a Hurricane buzzed us before circling round prior to landing, what a lovely afternoon. I am definitely going to put an Avro Lancaster on my Christmas list! Parking might be a problem but...............

Here's a pic of my car at the 3 Lancasters day (that wasn't) on 2nd September. 'Just Jane' stands guard in the background.

I have also added a link to my facebook album of the day so you get a flavour of what it was like. https://www.facebook.com/#!/bruce.kelse ... 221&type=3

Sadly can't upload the video of 'Just Jane' on a taxy run but you get the drift :-) Agree with the proud to be British sentiment too, irmscher[frame]Image[/frame]

Man that hood looks good in that colour! I was going to do mine in burgundy to match the interior, but I was also going to go OEW for the wheels and your roof matches so nicely. Hmmm.

Thanks for the comment purps :-) I particularly wanted to go for the contrasts wherever I could which explains the cream wing piping too. The hood is from Don Trimming in Birmingham and is their premium quality vinyl. I am just saving some pennies so I can install a custom leather interior too which will compliment the exterior perfectly.

For those who are interested, this is a link to my facebook album of the hanger tour at the Battle of Britain Memorial flight HQ which I went on at the beginning of the week. Enjoy :-)

I had the hood and the hood bag for my old convertible done at Don Trimming too. I took it over and they did both in a day. The fit was absolutely spot-on - I had looked at scores of rag-tops at rallies and asked the owners of hoods that fitted well "where did you get that done" and it was always the same name that came up. They were not the cheapest, but it was handmade off the roll, and you get what you pay for.
Couldn't see them today, but heard the two Lancasters in the distance as they went back to Coningsby from their last of today's appearances (Duxford I believe) and a bit later the Red Arrows nearly knocked me off my ladder as they returned, presumably from the same venue, heading for their base at Scampton... perfect V-formation even though they had no official "audience".

Well, there we go, Vera is heading for home. I went over to Coningsby to see her off this morning and BBMF did her proud with a super send-off - four spitfires/hurricanes went up in pairs and looped round to overfly Vera and Thumper as they took off in line astern, then dropped down behind and all six circled round the base before heading off to the west and out of sight. I understand that the intention was that Vera was going back over Lincoln Cathedral on her way up to Keflavik (in Iceland) and then, with 2 or 3 hops back home to Hamilton by about Sunday - they were not being too specific cos they are going "against the weather". Altogether a wonderful visit that has been much appreciated by enthusiasts across the UK. Now all we need is someone to win the lottery and get the Lincolnshire Aviation Museum's Lancaster "Just Jane" in the Air again - it IS feasible - all that is needed is a donation of about £3,000,000. Well, £3,500,000 would do the job with a bit to spare for the inevitable "extras", you know how these jobs mount up..............

Absolutely echo those thoughts Bert(!) it has been a truly amazing summer as far as the Lancasters are concerned. I went up to Derwent Dam last Sunday to watch them fly over and it was awesome - what a sound and talk about crowds - must have been over 20,000 in or around the area - absolute chaos trying to park and then a 4 mile walk into the Dam!!

Have posted a few pics below but sdaly missed the last flypast. Have to pay a huge tribute to the courage and bravery of the CWHM in allowing their priceless plane to fly over and join the BBMF. It's been a privilege and an honour to be able to see and experience this once in a Lanc time event. Hope some of you managed to see them too? :D

Here's an interesting fact, Guy Martin from the Channel 4 tv series owns a working Merlin engine from a 1940's Lacaster Bomber. It's mounted on a trailer from which he runs it occasionally :D

Not bad - 26 minutes and all filmed in Lincolnshire including several sessions I saw, so it has relevance. "Vera's" arrival, first practice session of "Vera" with "Thumper", session with "Just Jane" at East Kikby Aviation Museum, flight with the Vulcan and "Vera's" departure with escort of BBMF's Lancaster and four Spitfires/Hurricanes. A well-filmed DVD which (along with what is on Youtube) has cemented memories of a unique visit.
