This trivial matter could turn into a major problem if you lost all the coolant and ruined the engine!!!
The thermostat housing referred to above is Pt No: 12G103 and is offered as an alternative to the standard Minor housing by Moss Europe in their Minor spares section under Part No: 12G103Z.

Agreed, I have PM'ed Paul and will also look at local spares places to get a more suitable hose... it may be better than changing the radiator inlet angle....

Sounds like you may have found a solution but here are a few photos of mine anyway:[frame]Image[/frame][frame]Image[/frame][frame]Image[/frame][frame]Image[/frame]

The MGB thermostat housing is recommended for use with a 940 head (whether on a 1275 engine or not) - so shouldn't be necessary. If you are going to resolder the top pipe - you may as well twist it round to suit your housing. I do think some housings have a bit of an upward slant on the pipe - that one looks very horizontal.

Thanks all & thanks Louise for your photo's; your hose certainly does not have the kink...

I guess all it takes is a small twist of the inlet pipe to align all things...

This car was assembled in Durban in 1960, but may not have been a full knocked down kit in that local content may have been an issue even then.... so local parts were supplied that were relatively non-precision and easy to manufacture in country and increase local content.

The radiator may have been one of those, slightly out of spec... who knows?

Roy, I have soldered the fracture, but don't have a torch that will allow me to separate the complete pipe.

If my theory is correct (that this has been like this since 1960) my repair with the right flexible pipe may last until 2060? :D
