I've had 3 1500 Midgets and enjoyed them all with no bottom end problems with the Triumph engine - they are good value - but if money was no object I'd go for a chrome bumper 1275 - however the java green 1975 spitfire my ex had, was better all round ! I managed to hold on to my MGA post divorce as well ! Happy motoring !![frame]Image[/frame]

I have a 1275 Midget and this is my third. My previous one was a 1500 and contrary to a lot of opinion it was a great car. I toured France in it twice and the French don't generally know much about MGs and absolutely loved it. They aren't so hung up about the bumper material or the exact shape of the rear arches! Forget about Austin Healey vs MG, they are the same car. My personal preference is the pre facelift 1275 (1966 to 1969) for the same reasons as stated previously (my present car is a 1967 model) and these are generally the highest value. BUT, my recommendation would be to buy the best condition car you can afford. You will get better value with a 1500 (and arguably slightly better performance and economy) compared to all the earlier cars. Much easier to keep looking clean too! They are great handling cars and so much fun, whichever model you get I believe you will love it!
