Shocking if that's the case - which is why you should always ask to see the work in progress - and always ask for the old parts that have been removed. Did they skim the head themselves, on the premises (and if so, ask to see the machine...) - or did they take it out to a machine shop - if so, they will have an invoice from them for the work. Ask to see it!! And if they don't comply - take them to Trading Standards and obviously, NEVER go there again.

Morris is back, sporting an alternator and gliding majestically up to 50mph and beyond.She even went to 60mph without protest, not done that for quite a few months.Mentioned my concerns to restorer who flipped end of petrol pump off and noted the aged points.To be fair i did think the red rustyness of the bolts that secured it indicated the lack of work, when its supposed to have been sent off for repair.Im very gullible but not blind.Head was allegedly sent of to machine shop for skimming but restorer man pointed out that the metal gasket should still be a little shinier than the dirty-wornone in place-i'd already noticed the long term stains around the thermostat housing and general 'ive not been removed' look of the head when i became suspicious about the petrol pump.If i had the receipt to show the work allegedly done i think i'd contact the cops, its fraud if only small scale but will just call it a lesson to be learnt and not go there again.Mind you last time at was at the garage i overheard the owner saying they were snowed under with jobs, so they obviously didnt need the work, so i guess i was just an easy cash cow for them-wonder if the other cars are being done to the same standard?

Go back and throw a wobbler and demand your money back, show the proprietor the car, hopefully there'll be a few customers about, talk loudly about the non-existent 'work' and see what happens. I reckon you'll be in for a refund.
