43 years old, 5-6 years no claims bonus, last year Lancaster insured me fully comp for £110.Got quote for this year, from Lancaster, £900+.Apparantly if you're unemployed you considered a higher risk.Got insurance elsewhere at £260, still a big jump with a further years no claims but nothing like the £900+ that Lancaster wanted.Yes i feel persecuted, particularly as in 24 years of holding a licence there's only been one claim when some one went up the rear of my one owner Fiesta that wrote it off.Im in the process of being priced off the road.

Even though you have insurance, try http://www.rhclassicinsurance.co.uk/ who, I would suspect, would be much less than £260.

So it might even pay to change

I can also recommend A Plan insurance (who are a broker)

I have spoken to them about insuring my classics and they would be happy to oblige

I currently have my 1995 Transit Insured with them, with lots of mods (doubled engine power, seats, windows, blah blah blah) and it came in cheaper than the best price I could get on my "standard" one.

I also use Aplan for my modern ,not the classic cause they don't like driveway parking in brum at least ,I have a loca branch and I do like to talk face to face if possible,old fashioned I 'pose

That might suggest that ALL classic car drivers should be penalised........

Or does it mean that those of us who have the fortune/misfortune to have been driving classics for 2 decades or more are better practised at evasive driving?

I gave up cycling around Warwickshire 5 yrs ago due to the atrocious driving of car drivers (often the danger to cyclists was proportional to the cost/size of their car).
At least in a minor I can live to tell the tale - despite 2 occasions where other drivers (both were vans) have deliberately tried to drive me off the road.
