I also thought about going along this route as my daughter uses her car for her job,
Looking into it some say that the timing has to be altered in one case i saw by as far 10 degrees?
still think i may change over one day but for the time will remain with points.

How can the timing need to be altered?? The spark will still be required at exactly the same point in the cycle........ The dizzy may have to be positioned differently - but the timing will be exactly the same.

In reply I think they ment the dissy body would have to be rotated by 10 degrees?
I must see if I can hunt the article down as I am sure someone mentioned that they had a lot of problems getting started following fitting of the electronic ignition, possible this was the one that i remember had to alter the dissy, will let you know when i find the article,

10 degrees it utter salespersons hype, applicable if it was about 9 degrees retarded before.
The "much more powerful" spark is unlikely to be needed far from where it was before.

The spark is not any more powerful - nor does it need to be to ignite the hot compressed explosive mixture! The 'timing' will be exactly the same. The dizzy position could be anything - to guess at 10 degrees is just exactly that - a wild guess........
