And how will you know it's the correct coil for the job? A simple multimeter from Maplins is all you need.

Yes indeed - if you buy from a reputable supplier. But modern coils don't have a great reputation........

Mine happens to be upright - but it shouldn't matter if they have been properly filled with oil.......
