Doors are much heavier on the MM/S2's and early 1000's too. Noticeable if you have one that they shut better than the later 'tinny' ones :wink:

Can't beat a good door sound. There has been much psychological investigation into it by car manufacturers. It infuriates me that on the vast majority of modern cars the interior door-pull is right near the A-post, where the load and effort required to close it is greatest, and modern car doors are fairly hefty with all the electrics, airbags &c. contained within. Sort of thing I notice and bugs me, but fortunately don't have to put up with - just the door busting open on the Minor!

Okay, next question in trafficator wiring. I have a US spec mm1000. If I wire the SF80 trafficators in as is shown on these diagrams previously posted, I either get the trafficator arm to come up and stay up, but then the light on it remains lit - doesn't flash. If I run the wiring through a flasher, then to the trafficator, the arm goes up and down in sync with the flashing light. What am I doing wrong. An Anglia website insists you absolutely have to have two feeds, one flashing for the light and one steady voltage to hold the arm up. How do I do that through one switch? Can anybody help? Thank, Scott

Are you trying to get the semaphore indicators to come up and then flash the internal light? That was never done and without significant rewiring inside the semaphore, is not possible. The semaphore is feed from a constant supply from the indicator switch and holds the indicator up and out and illuminates all at the same time, from a single wire.

I have heard you can get a replacement bulb of the LED type that flashes, that would be the way to go. A lot easier than messing about with the wiring.

To get the flasher working and the semaphore staying up you need two flasher units, one for each side of the car, and then on the supplies from the flasher unit a diode in each line to the semaphore. If it doesn't work first time then turn the diodes round (mine inevitably didn't).
I also fitted a third flasher unit for the new indicators to behave as hazards, i.e all on together. A small switch and indicator-on light on the reinforcing bracket under the dash completed the installation.

The indicator bulb in my switch did not work until, inspired by this thread, I connected 1 and 2 together with a small piece of wire and BINGO everything now works as it should. I replaced the switch recently after the old one failed totally.
