Same here they have just blown it with me. I got a quote to renew my everyday car via my club membership. Footma James where well ove twice the price of anyone else at around £750 iirc. Got it done for for a little over £300 with a weelknown company. So I dont see the point in bothering with them for anything againleafie wrote:Thanks simona but I've gone with Peter James as I needed to do the insurance there and then to bring the car back home and as far as I'm concerned Footman James had their chance and blew it.simona1 wrote:Footman james tried that with me but I told them id got a better quote for £80 with breakdown cover and agreed valuation and they matched it so try them again, good luck![]()

As the car is not modified in any way I am just wondering if they are this uncompetitive in general. Are there areas they just don’t like or some other justifiable reason for them as the clubs recommended insurer being nearly double the cost because as a club member I would have liked to use them but not at double the money.

Re: Quote from Footman James is it just a Manchester thing
Update- contacted by club officials last night (Thursday) who asked if they could investigate the matter on my behalf to which I obviously agreed. The outcome is that my quote of £210.78 (3000 miles) appears to be down to a computer gremlin in the Fj quick quote system which means MMOC membership though asked for may not be being recognised when giving a quote. My quote as a club member should have been a much more acceptable £127.04 (6000 miles). The issue is being investigated by Fj and in the meantime the advice from the club is to contact Fj by telephone for quotations or the club direct if you have the same problem until the issue is resolved.
So that’s the cost of club membership back a few times over and although not the cheapest quote the difference would have been small enough for me to have purchased the policy knowing I had the extra support of the club behind me had I needed it in the event of a claim.

Another RH fan here : I'm 37 (ouch), live in East Sussex, car is garaged, but not on my property, and the quote includes legal, breakdown etc. £82 (and some pennies). Even insured our moderns with them now!
