Well - I understand - but for everyday use 30 miles (is that each way??) an alternator makes a LOT of sense certainly in winter. The swap is very easy - and entirely reversible. Leave the Regulator in place - and you can either run new cables - or make use of the existing cables - just move the connections over away from the Regulator. But if your dynamo is in good order, I'm surprised it won't cope - but you would probably need to NOT have the headlights on in 30 mph areas - only use them when out of town, and no heated rear screen etc etc Heater fan + sidelights and sensible use of the wipers (ie switch off when stopped) and it should easily keep the battery up.

I Think Thats put me on the right track!
Will take Those steps. And rather than change the origanal car . i would rather charge every once in a while.As is easy too do.
