Just get a deep 1 5/16 socket (what I use) or 3/4 whitworth and if the nut is stuck use a breaker bar. Loosen the nut by a few flats, but do not remove, so that when you pull at the wheel to get it off the splines it does not suddenly release and hit you in the face!!

As for the socket, it is rally season now, these are often available in 2nd hand tool stalls at such events.

3/4 Whit socket, 4 in ext and a ratchet should shift it, or even a box spanner and bar. Don't forget to remove the fuse to avoid annoying the neighbours.
If you still can't remove it try the old fashioned method of cancelling the indicators by hand!

Took the plunge and used hammer/chisel option came right off with only a few firm taps and indicators now functioning correctly
