I've got a spare pump you can borrow Pete. I'll drop it round tomorrow if you like!

It is only a borrow mind, I've only just bought it!

My pump kept stopping. After getting out and moving the wire it started again only to stop later. We've replaced the wiring right back to the battery, it seems there must have been a slight break in the wire which rectified itself every time you moved it and then opened up again when driving causing it to stop.

cheers dan that would be cool.
Kettle's on.
Question; would the pump keep ticking if there was a block in the fuel line or would this pressure difference stall it? Reason I ask is I have just fitted an anti-roll bar and have been a bit enthusiastic trying it out. I wondered if I've disturbed anything at the bottom of the fuel tank (It did get a bit smelly too at one point  )

No, it won't tick at all. It could have caused a small amount of "gunge" being stirred up from the bottom of the tank, but there's a filter in the tank to stop this isn't there? Try taking the fuel pipe to the pump off and cleaning it through.

Well I took the pump apart and this is what I found

So clearly the points needed attention.
I discovered why the 'on the road' fix with sandpaper didn't work. The points material is just too tough. I had to take a dremel to them to get them to this

Let's hope that's cured it. My points were worn and in the end we bought another pump. It was only when that stopped we investigated the wiring :o Peace of mind now new wire and new pump! :D

I had this problem and a bit of WD40 on the moving parts on the points fixed it straightaway. It's worth a try!
