Wow, just been away for the weekend and got back to all this info. You guys really know your stuff! Thanks for the info...so it looks like I might need a later box as well as a different diff. Flipin 'eck, what a faff!

Which is the smooth case version of the gbox. You should get one quite cheaply - they are generally unloved except by early Sprite owners. They are weak boxes - especially on the syncro and may well need rebuilding before you use it .

I actually think it may be a 948 g/box, its ally and smooth, not cast iron like someone suggested earlier for an 803. The gear stick is quite sloppy though so it may well need a bit of a spruce up.
