Pete, have you experience of the Mustang engine ? These were fitted into the MG260 ZT, and as such are now finding themselves on the open market. We were offered a full set up inc Tremec box, loom headers etc for £3000 plus the vat. I'm not intending on going this route (yet) just curious
Engine looks at home there in your chassis,do you need to modify the engine mounts much and are they similar positioning to the Rover mounts.
Will definately have to get up to Crail when my motors done and have some fun
These Mustang engines are going for a lot less than that - see Ebay. They seem ok, but don't seem to have a huge following here. I hired a car last time in America with the same engine, but I didn't think it had much go in it. Mind you, it was a Mercury Grand Marquis, so was quite heavy - in a Minor, it would be fine.
Best to get the dimensions, weights etc, then check up the internet for full details.
Engine mounts on the chassis to suit the 351C engine will need removed (wrong shape), but are roughly in the same place as the Chevy ones. I'll have to get engine properly aligned before I go any further - just roughly placed to make sure it fits.
Once I get car finished, I'll bring it down.
I've now got engine lined up where I'd like it, and then cut off the old engine mounts on the chassis. I had a plasma disc shatter on me, and fortunately I was wearing goggles and gloves - still cut my finger through leather gloves - and was pretty painful.
Gearbox mount will be pretty easy - just need some plate and a few holes drilled. engine mounts will also be easy ish, but will need fabricated.
Some pics - sun shining please note - but snow on way:
