Mine recently went through the 90,000miles- on original engine and bever been overhauled, yet. I may treat it to that at 100,000miles.

If it aint broke, then dont fix it.

Mine's on approximately 111000, rapidly rising as I do about 10000 a year in the old boy.

Thanks for the link Louise as I saw this car at the begining of the year and let me tell you what I know about it.
As the branch contact I was asked if I knew anyone who was interested in a Moggie as they had a Saloon (that needed work which has since gone to a new owner for a fair price) and a pickup and a convertible.
Well the pickup turned out to be a ringer as nothing matched the number plate was for an earlier vehicle which the logbook stated was correct for the pickup but the vin plate didnt match and the vehicle was a much later one and our branch LCV man also found that it had some interesting surgery carried out on the underside so basically it was an iffy vehicle with some major problems.
As for the convertible its news to me about the previous history accounting for the speedo mileage as this wasnt mentioned when we saw it and the current seller seems to have added our visit to give it some creedance and we definately did not say anything about the low mileage as the car was restored by the farmer only shortly before it was last used and the condition is after the restoration which also included a non standard metallic paint finish which is not mentioned in the ad (is that why they left it dirty so you cant tell) and as for using words like general patina there is no mention of the flaking paint on the bonnet or the fact that it has been restored previously.
Now I am not saying its a bad car but after the issues with the pickup this car then having a logbook saying that a 1960 car is a 1980 one should make anyone suspicious especially as the iffy logbook details have somehow changed during the owners period of ownership !!!!!!
So if anyone on here is thinking about bidding beware of the problems and lets see what happens if I post the sellers a couple of questions.

Interesting!. I posted the link as an example of a (possible) low mileage car, not a recommendation. I noticed that the duotone door cards don't match the seats and I thought that duotone wasn't introduced until late '61? Strange to find it in a 1960 car.

I certainly wouldn't advise anyone to bid large sums of money for anything on e-bay without viewing the item first unless of course they can afford to lose the money

This particular car has already got bids over £1000 despite the fact it has no mot. I hope the high bidder doesn't regret it!

right then a bit of history from my car:

38,999 miles, new engine and gearbox fitted.

This engine and gearbox have since done 6,000 miles!!

Interestingly enough, there is no mention anywhere at all in the FULL and complete service history of any components being replaced, so i can assume its all original!

I bought mine 2 years ago with 7237 on the clock (suspicious to me) its a 1964

Hi Louise I didnt think for a moment that you were recommending it but the reply I have had from the seller is.

Car is a dark blue and doubt has been cast on whether it is original. As it was stored for so long not sure..panels are two tone and seats are one colour i think . as to bonnet there is a couple of cracked paint parts back to metal at the front.

So as I said its not an original paint finish which if someone wants a correct conertible, apart from full recommisioning including brakes etc it will need a respray and the correct colour hood and door cards carpet so it will not be cheap as its already reached £1650 with no Idea what it will run like with quite a bit still to be spent, I just hope the winning bidder actually goes to see the car as there is no actual history and I would think that the mileage is since the restoration but the seller is only describing it as they have been told, but I will email him with all the details that I know about the car.

Just to let you know that the seller said that its obvious judging from the questions he has recieved that the bidders are aware that it will need quite a bit doing to bring it back to original but is still not mentioning that it has previously been restored so someone may be quite dissapointed with this car.

right, when i got my mog taxed, it said that it had not been taxed since 1981, and when i got it the people i bought it from said that it had been off the road for 20years or so, so i do believe that it was in the garage for that long. the fact that aside from the 3small patches of welding i had done, it had only 1 small patch before, so i believe that my car was massively loved before i owned it. cosmetics were bad, but structurally it is fantastic(especially after reading other peoeple's problems!) what i am getting at is that the speedo read 26000 on it, and i do believe this to be true...although i have no proof! shame really! if only i was rich and could afford a paint job!

Well, mine is reading about 35,000 and as it was on about 5,000 when I got it about 16 years ago in a 'well used' condition and I've seen it go round the clock myself I'm guessing it's 235,000.
Sadly the original engine gave up at around 190,000. I'd already rebuilt the gearbox by then after it developed a leak which I didn't notice until it got noisy.

I'm hoping to reach the quarter of a million miles when it turns forty in a couple of years. Seems a reasonable expectation of a car, to me anyway.
