where the glue has contacted the hessian covering, moisture has got a hold, not much of a hold compared to other areas though. The gel turns the steel black, but here you can see, another coat is needed.

Don't worry too much about the pitted state of the frame. That looks pretty sound to me, and it will all get covered up again.

the seat bare metal frame wire brushed off to get rid of loose surface rust, followed here, by a coat of hammerite rust eating gel.[frame][/frame]

thanks, I'm not at all bother as you say, by the pitted appearance as its covered, just want to slow down the process of mother nature. Here the frame is positioned on a water proof sheet raised at the back and sides to direct the flow down the drain. The gel was left on overnight and the red rust has all turned black, but its important to get it all washed away, the new coat of paint won't take kindly to it.

once it was dried off and thoughly wiped down to get rid of any residue of the gel it was undercoated, it's a bit camo as I ran out of red primer and finished with yellow. Looks like the seat from a Gerry Kubelwagen.[frame][/frame]

after drying its top black coat I left it to harden in the sunshine and the summer breeze[frame][/frame]

now for the folding passenger seat, here it is, unchanged so far from being removed from the pickup relic.[frame][/frame]

quite disgusting in a similar way to the drivers seat, having suffered alongside it for many years, again, the compost heap came in useful at the bottom of the garden. A careful stripdown revealed that the shorter back on these has the same covering,simply folded over to reduce its length.

the seat back folds forward using these hinges.The frame needs wire brushing off to get ride of a lot of loose rust. There is a bit of reshaping to do, the thin support piece is bent, probably through years of folding back and forth.

overall the frame looks very useable, soon have that in shiney black like the other one.[frame][/frame]

David I stand to be corrected if I'm wrong, but that seat originally didn't come from a pickup. The folding seat is from a 2 dr (to allow the rear seat passenger to get out). They're very useful if you run a wedding car as they fold forward and then tip up towards the dash to allow large dresses to enter/exit. The pickup should have 2 static backed seats like your driver's one.

Not sure Lou. My chassis cab left the factory with "Option B Passenger Seat" which is the folding type.

I think the LCV passenger seats were different to those used in cars and tipped & folded, right up until the end of production.

I can only show this picture of this very seat in situ on the pickup relic, I hope Louise is correct (she usually is) and that these folding seats were fitted as standard to pickups, other wise this could have been a replacemnt seat in its original history.But it is odd, as its a small cab with nothing to access behind the seats.[frame][/frame]

When you fold it onto itself it then lifts back out of the way allowing you to stand things on the passenger floor. As mentioned the seat is correct for the pick-up.

I'm with you so it lifts forward into the passenger footwell to give free cab floor space for luggage?

One of my traveller e bay seats from a very nice lady who had a stunning trav, she was getting professionally restored seat fitted. The frames are no good to me but the soft furnishings are nice and clean.[frame][/frame]

even the covers look nice and usable, but the foam shows signs of rubbing/cutting from the webbing straps to its under side and mishaping and bulging one side.

I just got some new foam - http://morrisminorspares.co.uk/shop/pro ... 1a94c31e89 and for a tenner each not bad, haven't fitted them yet, but i have heard good reports. And they seem to be made up of recycled foam!
