The forming of a new branch is not really that complicated, other than of course getting enough 'active' volunteers to run and attend it. And yes, it would resolve the perceived difficulty. However you will note that I use the word 'perceived'. I am not the only one that seems to recall the subject of insurance being discussed in great detail previously, and it was then stated that where two or more MMOC members were gathered together with their cars, the event would be covered by MMOC liability insurance. I also believe that this was minuted.
With this in mind, I must admit that I find it strange that the committee has chosen to highlight the subject just when I am trying hard to establish a UK based MOT for the benefit of all Morris Minor owners.
Perhaps they would like to comment?

I have been advised by the MMOC Committee that if this event is not sanctioned by them, then it will not be covered by their Public Liability Insurance.
This may be a really stupid question but could somebody explain what difference it makes?
I'm taking my caravan which is insured using a car which is insured.
Posted elsewhere on the messageboard, and copied here for information.
HarryMango wrote:The Insurance matter was brought up at a pre AGM Liaison meeting in I think 1996 when there was a big hooha in the classic press about Public liability for rallies.
At that meeting my memory is that Sandy Hamilton stated that if any MMOC member organised a rally or a stand at a steam fair etc and displayed an MMOC sign/banner then the whole event/stand was covered by the MMOC insurance even if non members attended the event/stand. The only proviso was that any marshalling had to be done by MMOC members.
I agree this would normally be a branch thing but I believe the wording was an individual mmoc member.

Unfortunately although it was agreed to publish an ad for MOT-UK in the latest issue of Minor Matters, this appears not to have happened. I was hoping that this ad would reach more Minor enthusiasts like the one I recently heard from who apparently do not visit the messageboard. Oh well!!!!?????

In view of the above, would everyone that is aware of this event, and possibly even joining us, please tell their friends all about it. I really hope to make it a memorable, and potentially regular event.
Thank you,
Bill Hewlett.

Do you have an ad that can be printed off as flyer to hand round at meetings?
I'm a member of two branches, I'll try and get it put in their newsletters.

That's a very good idea Sidney. I'm sure a lot of us on here that are in branches can spread the word, and a flyer advertising the event would be great.
Unles I missed it or your keeping it to yourself exactley where is it you are camping as I would like to come up for a couple of days if work allows be nice to meet some new faces .got the dates not the address.
