Nigel ........blimey i had a look at your pics....how long was that sitting for?.......very filthy :o ....good job you are getting it back to former glory :D will be good to see it when its done....i also noticed its a 4 door......bit more work involved so make sure u make its all strong when you do the sills etc so the gaps dont close up

From any who have done this before, are there any particular tips for replacing the floor - eg. where it joins the transmssion tunnel?

when you do the floor pans, just put the bolts in that holds the gearbox tunnel cover in and that will get the floor pan in the right place and then you can get it to fit properly before you weld it
stag36587 wrote:I'm replacing the sills too - are the floor extension panels available from the suppliers - ie those that join floor to outer sills? I couldn't see them when I looked?
when you say floor extension which bit do you mean? has this panel connects under the floor pan Image
and this panel

then the sill connects to those panels

but this panel sits next to the floor pan side ,which has the seat belt bolt on it

I went to see that car too, but decided it was too much work - my hand went straight through the passenger's side sill I seem to remember. It was covered in bird poo when I saw it!

Well done Nigel for getting stuck in with it.

More fun than I expected. It really helped having photos of similar gaps being filled in with new metal. I'm now keep to do the nearside, I was just getting the hang of the welding. I'll probably enjoy driving it around for a bit first though.

Hi guys, I can get into my old account nslocomotive, so this is still me...

I have some sad news, after finaly purchasing my nice new toy and playing with it for a few months, it got too cold for me to work on the car as my garage is on-block. About a month ago some cretin broke into my garage and stole my welder, and most of my tools...

Undeterred I am planning to replace my welder asap as I had managed to get a bit done, and was working my way round her. so and update will come soon, so you guys know what happens with Brenda.

:-?
regards

Nigel
