Hi all
Can anyone tell me if the Morris Marina 1300 and the 1800 diff are the same and can I fit the 1800 head into the 1300 as mine has gone bang thanks. look forward to your replies.
You won't be able to fit the cylinder head from an 1800 marina onto a 1300 engine - they're a totally different type (A and B Series). Don't know about the diff, but I suspect not.

"The Marina used a Triumph based axle which is very different from the A series type and they are definitely NOT interchangeable" Owen Burton 'Morris Minor modification manual'
If I read the question correctly, it refers specifically to MArina 1330 & 1800 diffs, and has nothing to do with engines. The Marina manual I have lists only one diff for all models except 10 cwt van. I'd suggest posing the question to the Marina Owners Club.
Why? If the axle was a triumph unit, I'd have thought the diff was too. As for "nothing to do with engines", which bit of "can I fit the 1800 head into the 1300" am I not understanding?
Hi
Sorry about the confusion yes Simmite is right I was talking about the diffs I was asking if the 1800 diff head would fit into the 1300 diff and were they the same. It looks like they might be the same thanks. However
if someone can give me the URL for the marina club that would be helpfull.

As far as I know, the Marina axle is indeed the Triumph one (Dolomite/ Toledo/ TR7), although i have no idea what mountings are welded to it.
The diff is Triumph (I have a feeling the Spit diff also fits, but not the Dolly Sprint one as it's a different axle/ casing), or at least I'd be fairly certain it is given the origins of the axle and gearbox.
Now, whether the 1800 Marina uses the same axle casing as the 1300 I have no idea. But I'd think they'd use a different ratio whatever the case (pun not intended!).
Probably the bit I call "If it's broke, it's time to dig out that spare axle" I think.
I'd be surprised if the Marina 1800 had a different axle to the 1300 - In Triumph form the same using catered for 1300 Toledos up to 2l TR7s. So I imagine it's all interchageable... But I don't actually know
Let us call it by this name then. A Diff carrier assembly
Will a 1800 whatsamucallit , Oh yes carrier assembly fit into a 1300
diff case assembly and if so will the 1300 axles fit though the differential cage gears. I'm still hoping the whatsamucallit are the same.
Thanks for the taking the micky guys I gess the answer is that there is no (diff)erance at all.
I had a Marina rear axle and changed the diff to one from a TR7 to get a more suitable ratio. The diff itself was interchangeable but the TR7 axle was wider and had longer driveshafts.
