Sorry about the big photo - I wasn't sure which link would lead to the photoshop thingy.
I've been trying to get the car ready for the mot, I noticed that there was excessive play on the wheel bearings so decided to repack with grease and adjust. The one wheel was ok, but on the second wheel the bearing came out in bits.
I've taken the disk and bits to a bearing specialist on the Industrial Estate, and he's measured them up and ordered replacements.
Question 1: How do I go about replacing the bearings? I've never replaced then before, only greased and adjusted.
Question 2: The car has had disks fitted instead of drums, and the previous owner has no idea what model car they are from. Does anyone recognise the parts from the photos. I need to know in case I need a seal when changing the bearings. Also, if I need to change the disks or pads in the future.
Thanks from a tired and fed up Welshman (and boy, when we're down we're down, luckily it doesn't last too long. Must be the Celtic genes!)
Idris.

First things first, but not necessarily in that order.

Pads and caliper look surprisingly small. My Mini ones (ex Fiesta) are much larger! Yet still go under the 10" wheels - which is of course the point of them. The offset studs look scarey - but well enough done. If these had been Ford parts I think it would be marked on them - so is this the Marina set-up ?

Well done that man ! It is indeed the Marina set up. However its not quite as easy as it seems, as there were two types of kit offered here. O Burton was responsible for the kit which fits onto the Minor stub axle with bearings from an old Peugeot. The other better engineered kit was offered by C.S Autoclassics, this kit employed the stub axle from the Marina/Ital fitted into a re engineered swivel pin, this uses the standard Marina bearings and seals. You will need to determine which kit you have and order correspondingly.
You will need to drift the old bearing seats out and press in the new ones, grease liberally fit the bearings and tighten finger tight with the hub nut. Finish assembling with the disc etc and fit the road wheel, take the slack out of the bearing by tightening the hub nut , do not overtighten.

Thanks for the info lads.
A silly question, but will I need to remove the seal on the back of the disc? If so, then this is where the problem of finding out which kit has been fitted is important
Or can I reuse the seal
There's a cold shiver running down my back - I've got a horrible feeling the car will be stuck in the drive on three wheels for some time to come

Most seals are marked with the size - but to specify it all you need is the outer diameter, inner diameter and thickness. Then pop in to Bearing Services and ask! However - these days everything is ghastly metric sizes - so to get imperial size seal may take a day or two, and cost a lot more. beware too - BS may have a minimum order charge - but they would get the bearings for you too !
