If I remember correctly, the front clip was from an Austin Westminster with 8 x 14's or 15's and the rear was E type jag with 10 x 15's. I can't recall tyre sizes, but rears were 'not for road use'.
Wheels were either Wolfrace or Shelby.
Car was only a 2 seater and had a heavy space frame chassis. It actually didn't drive too well because of the steeering geometry, but as a showpiece it was really well done, both in and out, and was built on an almost mint bodyshell. Front and rear wings are fibreglass - made by George and Dunc. Dunc went on to put a fiat twin cam in a minor - possibly the first. He also did a Sunbeam Rapier H120 engined minor, then a Riley 1.5. Another mate in the same area still has an Alfa spider engine in his pristine series 2 which was built around 1973.
Astral Traveller appeared in Custom car mag around 1974, but I don't have a copy - someone must.

Just as a thought, BMW do a lovely metalic red. It would look lovely on yours. By the way did you ever see a red V8 mog that had a VW number plate very smooth and chopped it used to be up santa pod regularly. Your's reminded me of it looking fat with those big centrelines. Also if you sell your blade tell me.

James, I might have a look at reds - I sprayed a guy's bike a really nice Honda red pearl a while back and it looked good. I don't think I'll ever sell my Blade - it's done 25k now and still looks new - don't think I'd find a better one, plus it's got a few good mods to improve handling and power. I also bought myself an X11 a few months ago to compliment it, but have hardly used it due to weather.
I'm waiting on a set of Leda shortened struts for minor to finish off front end - a chance find on E bay (they are really short), plus again on Ebay I won a set of Ford motorsport rocker covers - already had a set of nice covers, but these are better.
Mind you, seeing your minor in Black is tempting
Don't think I've seen Minor you are referring to.
How are you going to operate the doors and boot? - I'd problems with doors on mine at MOT time, and am going to have to get round to fitting my reconditioned doors this year - complete with handles.

Jonathon, at the moment bodywork isn't terribly straight. Roof has a few dings (bonnet flew off) and it was rear ended by a transit a few years ago, so I'll be busy
My mate sprayed his 1935 Ford (this months custom car) Honda pirates black (possibly similar to vw colour), and I did a mates bike a special mix of this, but it turned out too purple for him (his choice - just add a bit more mate) and was then done straight black (fussy).
I don't think paint (top coat) will be getting applied to body this year, but chassis will be fully detailed and rolling, so I really have to decide pretty soon. I'll have to trawl through the net for inspiration.
My priority now is completing a new garage at rear of house to do all this work in.
Cheers

MOG! The panelwork and paint look great, fabulous! Job well done, that man!! However, those chav wheels (ugh) really don't suit the car and stop it from looking like the de-seamed super smooth hot rod it should be.
Cheers John - all comments IMHO
