One Of The Last Minors?

Post by Baconsandwich »

Good evening everyone,

I am a new tempoary member as I have been asked to sell a Minor on behalf of an elerdly gentleman in Devon.

The registration number is CNU 750L and is a 2 door saloon. There is a MMOC sticker in the back window so I was wondering if anyone knows anything about the car. The chassis number is 1283603.

Thank you in advance.

that is indeed a late model! chassis number 1288377 is the last 2 dr built.

Did you put up an advert in the for sale section?

Car is from 1970, somewhere in september of that year?

I have placed an advert in the "For Sale" section.

It would be great to hear from a former owner of the car as it is still going strong!

It would also be nice to try and find out where it was between September 1970 when it was built and February 1973 when it was registered.

Also, which garage or at least the area it was registered with would be very helpful.

It was first registered in Nottingham, between 1st august 1972 and 31st july 1973.

And I think a lot of the cars were stockpiled, and registered later, when they were sold.

Thank you Onne,

You are obviously the font of a lot of Moggie knowledge!

I will let you know how the sale goes. Any idea of what a good price would be for the car? The Ebay item number is 4610817304. Please have a look and tell me what you think.

Well, I have some very good websites... Looks like a nice car, and if it comes with a years MOT, it should fetch a nice price. It is tax-free, isn't it? This because I thought it was somewhere 73ish that they started it.
Was it resprayed sometime in its life? And the elderly gentleman can't tell you more?

Yes, it will be tax-free (in the UK) as it goes from the date of MANUFACTURE and not first registration! :D

yes, our scheme is even better, it goes for every car over 25 years old, so the early Golf mkI are tax exempt now.

Our scheme was 25 years old until this daft government got in and froze the age to a specific date. :( my MG (1978) would be tax-exempt but it isn't now. :(

Our daft government is putting in a scheme, where pre 1960 cars don't have to be MOTd. This because the cars are all well maintained if they are that old. Up come the 1959 bangers. If cars are well maintained, why would they have trouble sailing trough the MOT?

All Golfs for the first 6 years of production, I think - damn, should have kept hold of mine. And moved :D
