Main Beam & Indcator

Post by PaulJohnson »

Hello everyone.
I have 2 Question that I hope you can answer for me?.
(1) Is there any thing that can be done to slow down the flashing on my 1970 moggy indcators?.
mine go so fast that it cause`s problem for other drivers, is there a way of slowing them down (both left&right)
(2) Now we have all been in this situation, your driving along the road and a car coming in the other direction wants to turn into a road on your side, to keep the traffic flowing you would flash your main beam,
however on a moggy you can not do this as you have to put your lights on first.
Now because Iam not the greatest at electrcal stuff is there any way that the foot switch can be EASYLY re wired so that when you press it the main beam come`s on?.

1) replace the flasher unit. It sound like yours is faulty.

2) you could re-wire it fairly easily, by just connecting a live to it as opposed to the live feed from the light switch. But it would operate indepandently and not switch off the headlamps when the main beam was operational which I am fairly sure would be needed for the MOT.

You can get a new style indicator stalk from the Morris Minor centre in Birmingham which has a flasher feature on the stalk (like a mini). I would advise going this route rather than re-wiring the foot switch.

Alternatively,for flashing the headlamps,you could obtain a
special long stalked switch made especially for this(long
stalked so that you could operate it whilst holding the steering
wheel). This was a popular mod and you could find one at
any auto jumble. Very easy to wire up too.
