Tappet chest breather smoke

Post by Wes »

Yes me again. Whilst reading an article in Octane magazine read this "head gasket leak allowing cylinder to vent conbustion bases into the crankcase and vent". Any chance my smokey breather exhaust could be a H/gasket failure? Or am i still clutching at straws? Thanks

Not tappet cover breather! The 3\4" one that vents down by the timing chain cover

I suppose it is possible. If you want to change the head gasket it isn't a huge job and the gaskets are not very expensive either. You would also get the opportunity to inspect the cylinder bores and the state of the valves. Have you checked the head nut torques?
