Luxembourg tuner
Nothing to do with Minors —— maybe in early sixties I built what was known as a Luxembourg Tuner, It must have been a project from something like Practical Wireless or similar, I dismantled it many years ago but have come across the transformer that was used, that’s what inspired this post. Any radio enthusiasts remember such a thing. For the benefit of young members Radio Luxembourg broadcast on 208 medium wave !——-playing pop music.

Re: Luxembourg tuner
I know nothing about building tuners Les but I DO remember happily listening in to Radio Luxembourg in the evenings in the 1960s on the old Philips valve radio I had in my bedroom.
Sometimes I'd fall asleep listening to it and my Mother would get very cross that I was wasting electricity and could burn the house down leaving the radio on! Happy days eh

Re: Luxembourg tuner
No Minor could be said to be complete without some blank forms for the pools in the glovebox.
What else? An empty pack of 5 Woodbines? The silver paper could be handy for jamming into the cut out late at night.
Green Shield stamps? All stuck together because the rain got in.
Someone save me from nostalgia.

Re: Luxembourg tuner
I’ve always had trouble falling asleep. As a kid I had a small 7 tube table radio . Mom didn’t want me leaving it on so I hid it under my pillow at low volume. When I woke up the plastic case had melted like a Salvador Dali painting. I guess burning down the house was a possibility.ManyMinors wrote: ↑Thu Oct 15, 2026 7:53 am I know nothing about building tuners Les but I DO remember happily listening in to Radio Luxembourg in the evenings in the 1960s on the old Philips valve radio I had in my bedroom.
