I have never done one of these before but my theory is save as much OEM metal as you can...it is way better quality than the new repo as far as the weldability of the steel

Last week I did a very bad thing...I welded into the quarter panel flange area...5/16x18 UNC weldable nuts...

I know this is NOT a good thing...but I have wrenches that I can use for this size fasteners...

Still not sure what I am doing with this car but I am having a blast cutting and welding...

My great grandfather was a blacksmith...maybe that is why I like to weld and cut and tack and repeat this stuff over and over again...

DOMI Dansk Oversøisk Motor Industri A/S
The Danish Importer of British Motor Vehicles after WWII; it lasted until the 1990s.
https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/DOMI_(Unternehmen)

Many counties where Morris exported to had specific national Importer organisations/companies; depending on the country, they had a degree of autonomy, Australia for example even had their own local paint colours.

I believe the USA never had such a set up and Morris/BMC instead dealt directly with multiple US Dealerships, whereas VW did have such an importer organisation. Perhaps one reason for VW success with the Beetle.

Still fiddling with this left rear wing...I think I counted 10 separate patches that I welded into it...and I was not the first guy doing this before...lots of older patches that still looked decent too...so I left them...

Someone before me had installed this little set up where the fuel line runs into the tank...so I thought that was OEM...well according to my Morris Minor guru...this was not a stock item...

I think I bought the wrong fuel line...I had to cut it off and run flexible fuel down to the old school fuel pump...

Then I pushed her back into my open carport on the side of my garage...

She is leaving for Halifax Nova Scotia in less than a month

I never got to drive it but I did have a blast fixing her up...

It is on my bucket list to one day drive one of these little cars...

She has come a long way...it is so sad that so many of these cars never get driven...I bet this ole girl has been in a garage for many many many years...

She has brand new radial tires on her and they are all weather checked...

I honestly hope that the new owner gets to drive her...she seems like a very nice little car....

I am back on the rat rod for now...
