Does anyone have the two (brass/) bolts and nuts that fit to the base of the horn push.

Re: Horn Push screws for 1955
There doesn’t appear to be any screws listed in the parts manual
Unless its different for a 55.

Re: Horn Push screws for 1955
Completely different hornpush, steering wheel and steering column upto 1956 when the Minor 1000 was introduced
I expect a suitable screw could be found to do the job with some searching but I doubt anybody keeps a screw for that exact purpose anymore.

Re: Horn Push screws for 1955
As it's something electrical they are probably a BA size, at a guess 4BA. Measure them with a calliper and compare to BA diameter chart. BA brass machine screws and nuts are still available and often used by model makers.

I think they are not illustrated as they might have come pre-assembled with part 6 on the diagram.ManyMinors wrote: ↑Sat Aug 29, 2026 7:02 pm Completely different hornpush, steering wheel and steering column upto 1956 when the Minor 1000 was introduced![]()

Apart from the Knob(2) being illustrated with an M on it (another illustration error
I had mine apart last month, I think any suitable brass Bolts and Nuts will suffice....

Berni. There is not an error in the illustration shown by Bill. Bill's illustration is of a later (Minor 1000) hornpush which is completely different

Re: Horn Push screws for 1955
I did say in my comment it could be different on earlier car. That was the one shown in the parts manual I have and I used for the horn push query I had.ManyMinors wrote: ↑Sun Aug 30, 2026 11:48 am Berni. There is not an error in the illustration shown by Bill. Perhaps some has an earlier illustration or as suggested just use generic bolts.

Re: Horn Push screws for 1955
Sorry, I confused the plate numbers, I checked the illustration in the Parts Manual for the LCVs, which covers everything from the first one to the last.ManyMinors wrote: ↑Sun Aug 30, 2026 11:48 am Berni. The Brown Button one is separately illustrated (item 1 at the bottom corner, first type illustrated last
How it can list the contact plate but not the fastenings for it is a bit odd.

AH, Berni, so your manual is a different one, my AKD3541only covers Morris 1000 not earlier. Apologies for confusing the issue

Re: Horn Push screws for 1955
I should have been more careful comparing the images.
The LCV books were combined in 1967, so that 2 books rather than 4 covered the entire production.
A great pity they never did that with the cars so that MM/SII were included.
I stumbled onto the pdf downloads a while back.
As the LCVs started when the SII changed to the centre speedo, it gives me a partial insight into some SII aspects, well at least as far as the front end is concerned.
See the explanatory sticker on the inside cover...

I suppose we should be grateful that we have access to so much download material for our cars and help keep them goinggeoberni wrote: ↑Sun Aug 30, 2026 2:44 pmI should have been more careful comparing the images.![]()

Re: Horn Push screws for 1955
If they are not threaded into anything, just thru holes and nuts it would seem that anything BA, inch, metric of a similar diameter and length should work?

Re: Horn Push screws for 1955
As I was up the garage, I just looked Basil's Horn push.
A quick check with a Vernier and the bolts seemed to be 2.9mm diameter.
That's probably me not taking enough care at measuring (or my cheap vernier isn't accurate enough), as 6BA is 2.8mm according to conversion charts.
BA Brass Bolts & Nuts are widely used in modelling and readily available on fleabay.

Also as you can see on my earlier photo, they are C/S head into the contact assemblies.svenedin wrote: ↑Mon Aug 31, 2026 7:14 pmYes except Berni has measured and they appear to be 6BABill_qaz wrote: ↑Mon Aug 31, 2026 6:37 pmSuch as:geoberni wrote: ↑Mon Aug 31, 2026 10:17 am

Re: Horn Push screws for 1955
A #4 UNC or UNF screw is .112” diameter (2.85mm). 40 or 48 threads per inch. #4-40’s are pretty available over here. A pan head is .219” dia x .068” thick. A button head just a few thousands smaller. Given the short length I wouldn’t expect any difference in electrical resistance between brass and steel or stainless.

Re: Horn Push screws for 1955
It was an example of a company that sells not a specific reference to the bolt, as suggested to the OP they are readily available in model suppliers . They sell 6ba and many others I meant to take the specific product link off.
