Picked this up for a few quid recently.

Fit? or use as a paperweight?

Try it! Enjoy the noise. Remember though that it’s not much of a filter. Just a stone guard. I would keep clear of sandy beaches or straw lorries. Probably ok on a track, good fun if you like the noise. Otherwise, a weird paperweight.

OK tried it! failed! great induction noise but wouldn't pull at all!

Oh well. Guessing you need to re-jet/adjust carb to suit!

Very much so. The air flow is very different to a standard air filter set up so at a minimum the mixture needs readjusting. However, just setting the idle mixture is not enough as the mixture can become lean at larger throttle openings so a different profile needle would be needed as well and that might not be something that could be determined without a rolling road and O2 sensor. Although it would look extremely cool with triple carburettors on a 1930's racing car I would not want to pull dust and fine grit into the engine of an ordinary road car. All that abrasive dust will end up in the oil forming a dilute grinding paste.
