Tunnel ash tray and 948cc air filter

Hi,
I'm a new member and this is my first post. I have bought a 1961 four door Minor 1000 and wondered if it should have a tunnel mounted rear ash tray?
Also what air filter fits the air box? it is not the conical one as I have the 948cc engine. It looks like the previous owner has made a 1098cc one fit by jamming it in.

Hi,
I think ashtrays, be they under the dash or mounted on the rear section of the tunnel, were an option extra / aftermarket items on Minors.
Though I stand to be corrected.
Sally had one, though as I don't smoke and can't stand the smell of it, I gave it away.

I thought the correct procedure was to put a suitably sized brown paper bag over them, like they do on the telly.......

All Morris Minors left the factory fitted with ashtrays of one design or other
If you lift the rear tunnel carpet and can see four screw holes along the top - then that is where it was fitted

Sorry it was Elsie May, my old Traveller, that had one on the rear tunnel.
Sally's was mounted in the central panel, so, as you say, factory fit.
Didn't stop me getting rid though, now replaced by a small clock.

The saucepan filter holder of the 948 and the more conical one of the 1098 ARE both the same filter element BCA4582.
The 948 is just fitted the other way up.

Thanks for all your replies. There are no holes under the carpet on the tunnel although the underneath of the car has been completely restored. Thanks for the reply about the air filter. At least I now know what to order.
