Morris Minor Series MM brakes

Post by rsawatson »

Hello,

I need to rebuild part of the braking system on my 1950 Series MM. I would be really grateful if the following queries could be confirmed (for the standard setup/original configuration):

Front brakes
  • Size of copper washers for the front banjos (are there two different sizes as with the rears?)
  • Thread types for fixings
Rear brakes
  • Are the rear wheel cylinders interchangeable with those for later cars?
  • Thread types for fixings & copper washer sizes (if different to other models)
Thank you in advance!

Hello Ryan, Hopefully somebody knowledgeable about the Series MM will be along.

According to the workshop manual AKD530 section M9, yes the washers either side of the banjo at the front are different sizes but it does not say what size or whether they are the same as at the back.

I believe the service parts list for the Series MM is AKD615 but I cannot find this as a PDF. Perhaps you can find one as a paper copy?

ESM parts department are pretty knowledgeable or maybe speak to Bryan Gostling?

Thank you, Stephen - I shall certainly keep an eye out for that parts list!
