Hykee key cut

Post by hammersmith »

Hi I had these locks fitted several years ago. Due to one of my two keys getting jammed in the drivers door I had to cut the top off leaving a short sun of the key. The only way to remove the key in the lock was to cut it to get it through the body of the car. Having tried six auto locksmiths no one can cut a spare key. I have emailed the Association of Locksmiths to see if they can help. Does anyone know of a locksmith that can cut one of these keys.failing that I am trying to find someone who can weld a bit onto the stainless steel key I have left. The photos will give you an idea of the keys.

Hi
Must be something in the air at the moment.
I had an enquiry about a broken Hykee key a couple of weeks ago,

The original Hykee company hasn't been in business for many years now but some Hykee keys are still available and can be cut to suit, failing that if there's enough key left I should be able to tig weld it back together for you.
If you do go get it welded please be aware that the stainless used for these keys was such that they are quite awkward to weld as the material tends to burn away very easily when being welded.
