I want to take my Traveller to the garage about 5 miles away.
I am considering using an A frame.
The car, at this time, runs but is missing the rear bodywork including wings and only has a temporary fuel supply.
My tow vehicle would be my Transit camper van and I would use a trailer board with the van reg details.
The car should weigh less than 750 kg.
I think this is legal in the uk but will value confirmation.
Out of interest is anyone using an A frame for longer distance towing ?
Where are the best towing attachments?
Over the 750kg limit is there a way to connect the brakes for emergency braking?

Re: Towing with an A frame
There has been a lot of discussion regarding the use of towing frames over the years. I suggest that you use the search facility.
Personally I would suggest that you get the garage to pick up the car so as to alleviate any problems perceived or otherwise.

Re: Towing with an A frame
I used one to bring my 4 door home from Norwich to Buckingham with no issues. Its a fully adjustable, commercial type that uses chains not straps to secure and was attached to suspension arms.
750 kg is the legal maximum un-braked you can tow. Its classed as a trailer.
Remember you cannot reverse when using A frame towing as the front wheel need to be pulled not pushed(castor effect)

Re: Towing with an A frame
Thanks guys! I did search the site and found lots of conflicting information! Many comments referred to when we were in the EU !
I searched government sites and towing with an non braked A frame up to 750kg sounds legal.
I thought the cost of the kit might be recovered If I had to make several to and from trips.
The garage would of course be charging me for trailer and driver hire both ways!
