Number plate significance.

I bought 140BMM Last year. I was told that there is a significance of the MM part of the reg, other than the obvious morris minor, can anyone advise further??

It gives the Local Authority licensing office that issued the number. MM = Middlesex County Council. The BMM indicates issue between February and September 1954. Hopefully that ties in with the production and dispatch dates, and the dealer, all available from your Heritage Certificate.

The MM bit may indicate that it was a car supplied by Stewart and Ardern, the London Morris dealers who were at one time, the sole users of the MM registration mark
