Temperature sender tap size?

Hi, could anybody please advise me of the thread for the temperature sender on a 1098 head ?
I would like to clean up the thread prior to fitting a new sender.
I am assuming it is a taper thread in the head and parallel on the sender.
I have measured it at 18tpi but can’t make it match any of the taps in my collection.

5/8" UNF. It is a parallel thread in the head. Yes you're right it is 18 tpi
