I'm just finishing off putting in a lower repair section in the hinge panel, proved to be a bit of a job as the flitch had fair bit of tin worm, have left the cover plate off while I try and get things lined up. Anything I should watch for, the thing that concerns me a bit is the line up of the lower and upper hinge, if they're not in the same plane won't they try and bend the panel either as the door shuts or as the door becomes fully open?To my mind it's not helped by the fact that the hinges have some allowable movement because this all disappears when they're tightened up.
I have put new oversize pins in the hinges...they were quite worn.
I suppose i could put the hinges on the car and attach a thick plate to them which might indicate if they're badly lined up before the final welds go in?
