Original Morris Minor Jack, Starting Handle and Wire Screwdriver

Post by firedrake1942 »

Original Morris Minor Jack, Starting Handle and Wire Screwdriver. £50.

These items have been taken back to bare metal, primed and painted.

The jack thread has been cleaned and oiled and moves freely -

The wire screwdriver is a plus as these were often lost from the original toolkit.

For originality / display on your car or for use. Can post at cost.

Very nice. Were these tools originally in some kind of case? During my long ownership my car has only had its starting handle. The factory toolkit went missing long ago. I would not like to think how many times I've used that starting handle over the years. Rarely to start the car other than as party trick but so useful for turning the engine over to set the rocker clearances etc.

Stephen, they came in a strong plastic/rubber bag which tied to keep it closed. I have an original one that came with my 55 saloon but Bryan Gostling of club spares had new ones made and was selling. He may even have some left. If I remember, I'll take a photo of the bag I have.

Thank you very much. That would be perfect because then the tools wouldn't crash about in the boot.

It just means they all slide about the boot as one - or else store them under the floor where the spare wheel is.

Hi Stephen,

Finally got around to digging out the tool bag and taking a few photos. See attached. If you wanted a tool bag, speak to Bryan at club spares. He had repro's made and was selling them.

That is a Series II (or earlier) bag. Series III and later were black.

Can see that from the jack. The starting handle is a much superior design.
