Hi all.. New owner from Sunny Lancashire

Post by Si2500 »

Hi all
Just a quick note from a new member.
Just bought my first Moggy a 1955 model.
Loving trying to work out what exactly it is i've bought!! All seems pretty standard but appears to have a Maestro 1275 goldseal engine!!
Expect i'll be on here (a lot!) whilst learning the finer points of ownership... Although i did manage to get the trafficators working this morning!! :tu1:

Welcome and congratulations on what looks to be a fine car :D

Ask away as much as you like and we'll always try to help.

One caution: check that engine carefully. The DVLA record shows it as 948cc. If it really has been swapped, then you must notify the DVLA. It won't be a problem, just use the changes section on the V5C. If the DVLA want a dealer or garage verification, then the club can help; but the last one we did went through without a question. You should also check that the brakes have been upgraded and notify your insurance company. Sorry if this sounds officious, but it's better to have everything in order now rather than having a problem in the future.

Hi
Yes its on my looooong list of things to do!
The engine was swapped in 1991 and hasnt been changed on the V5 since then through about 5 different owners....
The engine swap is the first of my headaches as i need to get to grips with exactly what it is (i know its Maestro 1275 but thats all) and all of the service settings... Plugs, points etc.
Much fun to follow i think
